Yorkshire Film Archive - review

Great time on Wednesday 13 January with Graham Relton, Manager of the Yorkshire Film Archive . Graham treated an enthusiastic audience to some wonderfully chosen and presented archive footage, interweaving unique cricket film with scenes of local interest. The sporting selection began with a Girls' versus Parents match at Hunmanby Hall School in 1948. Graham then moved on to Cricket at Hovingham , a film shot in the early 1930s by Sir William Worsley, Yorkshire captain and later MCC & Yorkshire President, action from the England v India Test at Headingley in 1952, Bill Bowes's inside view of England on tour in Australia in 1958-9, a snowy Northern Cricket Society Boxing Day match in 1953, the Scarborough Festival 1960, Asian players in action at the Interlink Cricket Club in Bradford in 1972, and last and by no means least, Mike Ulyatt's local masterpiece - Hull Railway Clerks CC Centenary 1973, featuring the late, lamented Circle Ground on Anlaby Road.
